This kitchen was made physically larger by removing the back stairs and pantry closet. The finishes we chose make it look so much brighter, yet the dark walnut island and medium-toned wood floors create a nice contrast to the white cabinets. The tile behind the cooktop is meant to be a focal point, but there are many other attractive and practical design elements in this room. The quartzite island top was selected to stand up to heavy use by a busy family.
